Happy Thursday! We are knee deep in the series and there is no turning back now! Over the last couple of weeks we dove into the purpose of self-love and a plan.
Having self-love should build your pride and confidence. Having a plan should build your awarenesses and strategy. These two weapons will help you break the cycle! Hope you are ready.
What happens when you execute a plan? You begin to break a cycle.
To break the cycle is to discontinue the engagement of anything that is harmful or of anything that keeps you level. To break the cycle is to let go of an addiction or a habit. To break the cycle is to get out of rotation and onto an incline. This includes but is not limited to curses, toxicity, laziness, violence, drug usage, etc. This could be a very tough task to execute, but it is so doable. Having said that, you don't wake up one day and break the cycle. You have to love yourself and have a plan. I know I keep saying this but it's true!
Now, only you know the particular cycle that you need to break. So keep your focus on that.
The first thing you need to do in this process is to let go of your fears. Whatever keeps you on this toxic merry-go-round, let it go. Fear is the enemy. People always say that certain animals can sense fear, which makes them attack. You should have that same parallel thought process. When you are scared, you get attacked the most. There is nothing to be afraid of when you are trying to overcome. The biggest person to be afraid of is you because you are holding you back. Look in the mirror and tell you to stop. Other than that, what else should you fear? Nothing. It's ok to worry a little or be uncomfortable, but have full faith so that your fears can be eliminated. You can't break the cycle if you are scared, so be fearless.
Secondly, be intentional with everything you do. Be so intentional that it is unapologetic to whoever sees. Stop going with the motions of everything. When you go with the motions and do things "just because" you sort of lose yourself. The next time you do something, ask yourself why. Challenge yourself. This could actually be a daily exercise to break small cycles so that you can begin to break bigger cycles. Being intentional is to know exactly why you are doing something. Being intentional is also asking "what's in it for me?" Why do you eat tacos every Tuesday? Why do you drink wine everyday? Why do you take lunch at 12 everyday? Why do you wake up at 8am instead of 7am to pray or exercise? Why do you turn on the TV as soon as you get home? Why are you drinking kool-aid instead of apple juice? Why did you pay $100 for the skip-line? Why are you the way you are? Why are you living in the same place? Don't be so routine that you look up one day and question how you got to where you are. Stuck. Sometimes we don't even remember deciding for ourselves how we want our lives to go. It's as if the cycle is laid out for us already. I can't emphasize enough that you won't be able to break the cycle if you are not intentional.
with self-love, a plan, fearlessness, and great intent, you’ll be ready for what’s next in this world. Please stay tuned for the next two Thursdays for the remainder of the “Quarantine Break Series.”
LOVE,
LACIE
